Why NIFTe?

"Family Trees" are charts commonly used in societies across the world to represent family relationships and their histories, and NIFTe values the diversity of backgrounds, experience, knowledge and skills that these trees (Japanese and non-Japanese) can offer to Nagasaki. Therefore, NIFTe has established this community with a hope to develop a family-like community in Nagasaki city for people to gather and seek advice from each other, regardless of nationality or background.

From our experience of helping international students and their families at a local university or at local schools, we have seen non-Japanese people encountering a wide range of difficulties and challenges due to language and sociocultural differences. So, to make our lives in Nagasaki fruitful, NIFTe offers monthly gatherings for members to pose and discuss their questions, thoughts or concerns freely. NIFTe hopes that these gatherings will allow the creation of a strong Japanese and non-Japanese community and the potential for NIFTe to grow multicultural family trees together.
